trilite-mv2-12v-dc-rotating-beacon-lights
TriLite MV2 12V DC Rotating Beacon Lights

The TriLite MV2 is a compact 12 volt DC rotating beacon, the economical member of the MV2 range. Two models make up the base family: the MV2-12P is permanent mount and the MV2-12M is magnetic.
A 25 watt incandescent bulb sits behind a belt-driven reflector turning at 90 to 100 flashes per minute. The base is anodized aluminum, the unit stands 7.5 inches high by 6 inches across, and it draws 2.2 amps at 12 volts DC.
Six dome colors are available: amber, blue, clear, green, purple and red. If you need a voltage other than 12, look at MV2IND instead. That is the broader industrial family covering 24V, 36V, 48V and 115 VAC.

What is the TriLite MV2 rotating beacon?

The MV2 is a compact rotating reflector beacon for 12 volt DC signaling, safety and warning work, indoors or out. A belt drive turns the reflector, which runs quieter than a gear drive and gives you fewer parts to service over a long life. The anodized aluminum base handles the knocks that come with industrial use. TriLite positions it as the economical option in the range, which makes it the sensible pick when you are fitting several machines at once rather than one.

Permanent or magnetic mount: which MV2 do you need?

The MV2-12P is the permanent mount. It fixes in place and wires into the 12 volt supply, which suits a beacon that belongs to one machine, one vehicle or one fixed warning point. The MV2-12M is magnetic and holds on flat steel, so it moves between machines and goes on in seconds. The trade-off is familiar. Permanent takes installation time once and then keeps a tidy cord run. Magnetic is quick but leaves the cord in the open and needs clean steel underneath it.

What can you run the MV2 on at 12 volts DC?

Anything with a 12 volt DC supply and 2.2 amps to spare. That covers service trucks, utility vehicles, smaller lift trucks, tow tractors, agricultural equipment and fixed 12 volt warning points. Check the draw against the circuit before you add a second beacon to the same feed, because two of them double that figure and it is the part people forget. If the machine runs 24, 36 or 48 volts, the base MV2 is not the right model and you should be looking at the MV2IND family instead.

What dome colors does the MV2 come in?

Six: amber, blue, clear, green, purple and red. Amber covers general vehicle and equipment warning on most sites. The other five give you room to code by vehicle class, department or operating state without two machines reading the same. Clear gives the highest raw output, and six options is a wider choice than most compact beacons offer. Color conventions vary by site and by jurisdiction, so confirm your own policy before you fix a color across a fleet.

MV2 or MV2IND: which family do you need?

Voltage is the dividing line. The base MV2 covered on this page is 12 volts DC in permanent and magnetic mounts, and that is the whole family. MV2IND is the broader industrial range: 12V, 24V, 36V and 48V DC in both mounts, plus a 115 VAC permanent mount model. The body, bulb, base and dome colors are shared. If 12 volts covers your equipment, the base MV2 is the simpler order. Mixed voltages across a site point to MV2IND.

Rotating, flashing or strobe: what is the difference?

A rotating beacon like the MV2 turns a reflector so the beam sweeps past the observer, which reads as movement and tends to carry well across open ground. A flashing light switches a lamp on and off in place. A strobe discharges a short, high-energy burst that holds up best against bright ambient light. Rotating units also tell an observer something the other two do not, because the sweep gives a sense of where the machine is heading. Match the type to the site.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0914/8307/8949/files/MV2-A__11475_6582b9ce-f03d-49ff-b12c-390b7943cad7.webp?v=1790604244
